The anatomically designed mouthpiece follows the natural contour of the horse's mouth, resting evenly on the tongue and bars, while a slight relief for the tongue reduces pressure. The Kimblewick operates similarly to a Pelham but with a gentler effect. It is fitted with a single rein, and the leverage varies depending on the ring where the rein is attached. The lower the rein's position, the stronger the influence on the poll and lower jaw.
