The Vector LeMieux stirrups represent a new generation of stirrups: technically advanced and lightweight, while maintaining the classic style expected from LeMieux. Made from aerospace-grade aluminium, they offer an impressive weight-to-strength ratio, making them lighter than most stirrups on the market at just 419 g each, without compromising stability. The ergonomic footbed of the offset stirrup is set at 5°, featuring a cross-grip surface with integrated hardened steel pins to provide stability for the lower leg while keeping the heels down. The footbed is supported by a double balance arch system that distributes weight evenly across the base of the stirrup frame. The top of the frame is recessed and offset, promoting a 45° outward orientation, allowing the rider to find the optimal angle for their foot and to easily regain the stirrup when it is lost. The integrated pivot arm features a two-step unlocking system, preventing any accidental opening. The spring arm locks at the base of the main frame, meaning that under maximum pressure, such as during landing after a jump, the rider's weight is evenly distributed across the stirrup, preventing the outside from dropping or flexing. When pressure is applied to the stirrup arm, it opens and releases the foot from the stirrup, reducing the risk of being dragged. The break force of the stirrup arm has been tested at 36 N (equivalent to 3.62 kg). This demonstrates sufficient strength to prevent accidental opening, but allows for quick release if needed. It is important to note that for a stirrup of this design (with a quick-release arm), opening is not guaranteed 100% in the event of a fall. Several factors can affect this, such as the horse falling, a loose girth sliding the saddle, and a slow or unusual exit angle not generating enough lateral force to open the arm.
